Do You Pierce Children's Ears?

Absolutely! We’re proud to offer safe, professional piercings for children ages 3 and up, with a parent or legal guardian present. (Please bring a valid government issued photo ID to the piercing appointment. If you are not the parent of the minor being pierced, you need to have legal guardianship paperwork with you to consent for them to be pierced.)

It’s a privilege to help kids begin their piercing journey with a positive, empowering experience, implant-grade jewelry, and careful attention to placement.

We do not use piercing guns for any piercing. The Association of Professional Piercers warns that while piercing guns may seem quick and convenient, they come with significant risks. Our piercers instead use sterile, single-use piercing needles to ensure precision, a hygienic procedure, and a smoother, safer healing process.

Our standard for jewelry for initial piercings are flat-backed studs made from ASTM F-136 implant-grade titanium (the same quality used for medical implants like joint replacements). We use high quality, body safe materials to minimize allergy and sensitivity concerns. We offer a wide variety of colors, gems, and shapes to help each person fit their jewelry to their style. For families who prefer fine jewelry, we also carry 14k and 18k solid gold options suitable for both new and healed piercings.

What to Expect

A piercing appointment lasts about one hour in-studio. During that time, your piercer will:

Provide education about piercing aftercare and what to expect during the healing process.

Who Can Bring a Child to be Pierced?

Only a parent or legal custodial guardian may accompany a minor to consent for their piercing. A valid photo ID is required for the consenting parent or guardian. If the consenting adult is not a biological parent, documentation of legal guardianship must be presented.

What Ages do you Pierce?

At Agave in Bloom we offer earlobe piercings from age 3 and up! A safe piercing experience requires active communication between the piercee and the piercer who they are working with. We do not offer any piercing services under age 3.

When scheduling appointments, you will see that services are split by age range to ensure that an appropriate appointment length is scheduled.

Earlobe piercings are the only placements we offer for children aged 3 to 11. For information about cartilage and other placements refer to our FAQ Page.

Is My Child Ready?

The clearest sign your child is ready for ear piercings is simple: they have been asking for them!

If your child feels curious but nervous, we encourage you to start with a consultation or “Meet the Piercer” appointment. This gentle introduction builds comfort and confidence before committing to the full piercing experience.

We encourage piercing only when someone genuinely wants it and feels ready without external influence.

What Happens in a Meet the Piercer appointment?

Meet the Piercer consultations are available to introduce your family to the piercing studio in a low pressure environment! This is an appointment scheduled prior to scheduling a piercing appointment. No one is expected to decide whether or not they are ready to commit to a piercing during this consultation. During the consultation we will:

Evaluate ear anatomy for safe placement

Discuss jewelry options and pricing

Answer questions you and your child may have about the piercing and healing process.

Discuss aftercare, healing timelines, and what to expect

Ensure your child feels comfortable, informed, and free to choose

If your child decides not to move forward, we respect that fully — no pressure, ever.

What to Consider Before Booking

Sports: Many leagues prohibit jewelry during play. Check team policies, and if possible, pierce between seasons to allow time for healing. Earlobe piercings take 4-6 months or longer to heal enough to be ready for jewelry to be removed.

Swimming: We highly suggest avoiding pools, hot tubs, lakes, and baths for at least 3 months to protect the piercings from infection causing bacteria. Showers are encouraged!

Aftercare: Piercings require daily care throughout their healing process. You know your child best, and know if they are ready to handle gentle cleaning and drying routines daily. Discussing the responsibility that comes with new piercings with your child helps set them up for success!

Safe Healing & What to Watch For

Most children’s earlobe piercings heal within 4 to 6 months. Healing times vary from person to person and can be affected by anatomy, lifestyle, and aftercare consistency.

Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid twisting or touching jewelry. Do not remove or change the jewelry at home for at least four months. Continue wearing jewelry all the time for at least a year to maintain the piercing and protect it from closing. Check-ups are encouraged! We offer complimentary follow-ups throughout the healing process. There is not a service fee to downsize, but posts for downsizing start at $40 per pair.

Pricing & What's Included

Every appointment includes time for jewelry selection, professional piercing service, and aftercare education. Being pierced at Agave in Bloom gives you access to check-up appointments with our staff of professional piercers throughout the healing process.

Pricing breakdown:

$80 piercing fee for two earlobes - due at the time of booking ($50 for the first piercing, $30 for each additional piercing in the same session)

Jewelry: Flat-backed Implant Grade Titanium studs: starting at $45 each / $90 per pair

14k & 18k solid gold options: starting at $120 per piece and higher.

Sterile saline aftercare spray: $12

Example:

Two earlobe piercings with titanium jewelry and aftercare starts at $182 total, including jewelry, piercing fees, and aftercare.

Bodily Autonomy

We honor every person’s right to decide when they are ready for their piercing.

We reserve the right to discontinue a piercing appointment at any time if the child being pierced withdraws their consent to be pierced. Piercing Fees are non-refundable.
